Transforming workplaces with data-driven insights: Lessons from Leesman’s post-pandemic research, redefining hybrid work, enhancing employee experience, and optimising spaces for the future.

by Kyle de Bruin

Abstract

The Leesman Index, recognised as the world’s largest independent benchmark for workplace environments, has offered invaluable Hybrid Workplace Design Insights into the dynamics of workspaces.

With over 70 million data points collected post-pandemic, Leesman’s findings serve as a roadmap for navigating the hybrid era. They highlight the rise of homeworking as a more effective environment for many, along with the challenges of noise, commuting, and poor office design. By analysing Leesman Index data to identify the key drivers of high-performance workplaces—such as privacy, variety, and purpose—this article emphasises the necessity for organisations to adopt data-driven strategies.

W&P Editor’s Note: Work&Place first publish an article on the Leesman Index in 2013 and the last update was in 2018. We now invited the company to update our readers on its journey to establishing the pre-eminent workplace occupier survey dataset and to discuss the future direction of this vital aspect of workplace management science.
